Fun Friday

Fridays at the elementary school have been really exciting the past couple of weeks. Their leadership team has organized dress-up days for the entire elementary school. The first week was school spirit. This past Friday was Twin Day. Paul and Kevin dressed as red angry birds. They went to multiple stores to pull together their costumes, and I believe a little hot glue was even used to create the masks.
Serious Angry Bird
The kindergarten classes did not participate in Twin Day since Friday was declared "Fancy Nancy" (and "Fantastic Ned") Day for the kindergarten. The kids were encouraged to dress in their fancy clothes. At the end of the day they read Fancy Nancy books and ate parfaits.

Even his green "share" for the day was fancy
Isaac was so excited when he heard about this day the week before. He dug through his clothes and found a little clip-on tie, his fancy black pants and black socks. Because we knew he had to play in these clothes all day (and because his blue tie did not match his black pants), we convinced him to go with khaki pants and a polo shirt.  He still wore his black socks because in his words, "It's Fantastic Ned Day, Mom. Black socks are dressy socks so I have to wear them!"
Parfaits made to order
Our "Fantastic Ned"
Caleb, Mom, and I got to help put together the ice cream parfaits for the classes so we got to see all the kids in their fancy outfits. I had to smile when Mrs. Petro had to convince her kids that putting leftover parfaits in their backpacks was not a good idea and her response to our asking if she wanted a group picture--"Oh, that would have been a great idea when they first walked in the door this morning. Something to remember for next year." The kids definitely looked as if they had been playing in their clothes all day--a lot bit ruffled with tousled hair and bows--fancy as only kindergartners can make it.
