Creativity

I am daily amazed at the boys' creativity and the joy that they have in creating different things.

Both of them love anything Angry Birds. Isaac made his own angry birds and a big pig out of Play-doh.

 Caleb brings home fantastic artwork from preschool. We take pictures of the glitter artwork as a memory since the glitter falls off when we hang the pictures.

Isaac spent many painstaking minutes stacking his colored pencils.

Caleb is now a big fan of getting painted at preschool. This candy cane was compliments of Looney Dooney, one of his favorite preschool visitors!  (Not sure what is going on with his shirt...)

Who needs gifts when the box in which they come is perfect to use as a fort, hiding place, and a canvas for their drawings.

They are both really into Legos and spent a lot of time after Christmas putting together one of their Lego sets with each other.

Random Works of the Boys

The boys are constantly creating works of art or writing things down on paper. Since I know I cannot possibly keep all the papers, I have been taking pictures of them to keep as a memory. Below are some of their pieces of art or notes they have written in the past months:

March 6, 2012: Isaac colored this and added the glasses. He had another Thanksgiving picture from which he copied the glasses idea and the first part of his writing. He added the "but I am a guy" on his own.

March 8: This one shows Isaac's new found love for writing his favorite words and making hearts. (And it makes this momma's heart so happy to be included on the list!)

March 20: Caleb created the following sign and hung it on the playroom door while Isaac was in school. I was working in the kitchen, and he kept asking me how to spell certain words (which ended up on this sign). He was making a list of things allowed in the playroom plus he added some numbers that he loves to write. (On the right side "God" is actually supposed to be "dog.") I wish I could remember what "tsihol" meant.

When Isaac got home, he made a sign of his own just like Caleb's that reminded anyone entering the playroom that dogs and cats are not allowed, but fish are okay. (Their signs are in reference to the fact that we had been telling the boys that we could probably get a fish if any type of pet.) I love how he spells "open"--very phonetic with the ending of it.

Mid-March: This was one of Isaac's art projects at school--a quilt made out of Froot Loops (and only one Froot Loop was licked by a friend's little one year-old). They have been talking about patterns, and he was very proud of his red and blue patter but a little bothered that he ended up with two reds by each other on the letter. 

April 7: Caleb wrote this note to Paul on his own when Paul was at school and then left it on the mantle for him to find when he came home. He wrote all the words from memory, and the note says, "I love you Dad" with his customary snowman guy next to it. He watches Isaac all the time and tries to keep up with him and do things just like him (especially being artistic and writing notes).

April 16: Isaac wrote this note before Mark and Jill and the girls visited us. The eights are his version of the fancy "and" sign (&). He listens to the story Guess How Much I Love You most nights before he goes to bed which is where he must have gotten the beginning of this note.
