Sea World

This year we decided to get annual passes to Sea World instead of the Zoo and Safari Park. I know that I have already posted a couple pictures from our most recent trip to Sea World, but I have been intending to share about our first visit so here it is.

We had a beautifully warm day to visit. Amazingly, throughout the day we saw most of the exhibits though we only took in two shows--the sea lion and Shamu shows. In the picture below, Isaac is sitting next to the glass watching the walrus spit its food out against the glass and then suck it back into its mouth...gross yet very entertaining!
The boys were fascinated by the aquariums and could have spent most of the day just looking at the little fish. (It always amazes me how much joy they find in the simpler things--the little clownfish were spectacular to see, but the dolphins were just so-so. Crazy!) Our Hawaiian "Go Fish!" game has been paying off since they recognized a lot of the reef fish.

The also loved going through the shark exhibit. The first part of this one is above ground, and you get to look into the tank at a variety of sharks. The second half includes walking on a conveyor walkway that moves you beneath the shark's tank and allows you to have shark swimming above and beside you. The boys were thrilled with this one!Although they really loved the simpler things--including the porcupine in the animal center (so not a sea animal!!!!)--they really enjoyed the Shamu show and were riveted the entire time.

Imagine their great joy when they got to see a shamu slugbug!
